Alyssa’s Place has given me a place to go to meet good sober people and help build myself a sober network of friends to rely on. I always look forward to the meetings because they are a lot more personal than most!

Staff at Alyssa’s Place have been a vital part of my recovery process in building relationships and feeling part of a community. Outings are always enjoyable, and sometimes an adventure – but always fun!!

David S.
From the moment I walked in the door I realized this was a place for me. All of the staff made me feel welcome and at home. Now I even facilitate a meeting once a week.

Kassi R.
I had applied for a recovery coach through Alyssa’s place hopeful that signing up for some support would help my isolated lifestyle of binge drinking at home, and what I got was so much more.

About Us

Healing Hearts. Healing Families. Healing Lives.

Our story begins with two organizations who share the mission of making a positive impact on those affected by drug addiction. The A.E.D. Foundation and GAAMHA, Inc. joined forces to create a warm, welcoming place for those who are facing challenges of substance abuse in the Greater Gardner, MA community. After receiving a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Bureau of Substance Addiction Services, Alyssa’s Place was born.

A key element of this grant enables us to hire qualified staff to operate the Center so we can provide effective, confidential, unwavering support to those in need completely free of charge. The remainder of our operations are funded by generous donations from the community.

We are proudly governed solely by our peer members and operate using a peer participatory process. This means, those who support you can directly relate to your story and truly understand the challenges you’re facing because they’ve been there themselves. This recovery model is proven to be effective and is able to fill the gap between the clinical treatment phase and sustaining recovery. Beyond its effectiveness, our approach is deeply personal, often leading members to form enduring friendships that last a lifetime.

A Sanctuary of Support

Alyssa’s Place is not just a building, it’s a sanctuary of support where members have the option to participate in a wide range of groups for recovery, personal enrichment, and community education. It’s also a place where we celebrate life together. That’s why we organize sober activities and events to help you connect with others, build meaningful relationships, and have fun while staying on the path to recovery. When we join forces to create meaningful relationships and authentically support one another, recovery happens.

Shining a Light In Our Communities

Aside from working with individuals in recovery and their loved ones, we aim to be the primary resource for recovery services, resources and education for our communities. That’s why you’ll often see us at local events and even hosting our own. If you have a recovery support group, workshop, or training that needs a safe space to meet, our doors are open to all who seek to make a difference, contact us with your needs.

Project Details: Alyssa’s Place is a Peer Recovery organization serving community members struggling with substance abuse. Their previous website offered few details and did not exemplify the brand personality that had become synonymous with their reputation. Since their target audience are individuals who are typically at a place in life where they feel alone, we sought to infuse the website with warmth, compassion and understanding so when a viewer landed on the page, they immediately felt like they belonged.
